Shaarey Zedek
Sisterhood has been in existence since 1920, and still continues to be
an integral part of the Synagogue. The Sisterhood offers women of all
ages the opportunity to come together to socialize, work on special
projects and learn through programs such as the annual Interfaith
Luncheon held in the spring of each year, lectures on Ovarian Cancer,
the annual Sisterhood Shabbatton and a variety of social programs
ranging from fashion shows to learning how to care for yourself.
Sisterhood very
generously donated all the furnishings in the seating area in the lower
level lobby.
A recent
very special gift to the synagogue is the electronic information message
centre in the lower level lobby. People coming into the synagogue can
see what services and programs are taking place each day of the week,
what time services are being held as well as where they are located, who
is celebrating a special day in their lives at Shaarey Zedek, along with
a great deal of other synagogue related information.
Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood is proud to support
Osborne House, a safe place for women and
their children. Along with contributions from our
members and congregants, and members of the community at large, we
provide some of the material items from Osborne House's "wish list", to
help them help some of the most vulnerable members of our society. We
hope to start a new tradition of bringing an item for Osborne House
whenever we come to the synagogue for a Sisterhood event. There is
always a donation box in or near the lower lobby of the synagogue.
Below you will find our schedule of suggested
donations, but of course
donations of any of these items, and many others, are welcome at any any
time. For other suggestions, and more information, please visit
