Please join us for our successful Shabbat Hospitality Program! On many Shabbats throughout the year, we join other Shaarey Zedek members in their homes for a Friday night Shabbat dinner. Some families host, other people are hosted. The format is potluck and the food is dairy. Please call the Program Director for more information. B'nai Mitzvah Club

with Chazzan Aníbal (Yitzchak) Mass
A free, open learning experience for all (
Members and non-members)

Shaarey Zedek now offers a B’nai Mitzvah Club for everyone ages 10 to 13! This open session running on Tuesdays from 4:00 to 5:30 PM until June 21 takes place at the Gray Academy Beit Midrash Room and is open to students from all schools. We’ll provide pizza and pop for FREE each week so no need to worry about dinner. Just like dinner, this program is offered free of charge for all.

No plans for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah Ceremony? No problem! This new club isn’t limited to preparation, it’s about creating an opportunity to learn and grow with peers. And if you are having a simcha, just not at or through Shaarey Zedek, that’s not a problem either! This will not interfere with the one-on-one training of your tutor whether you are preparing through Shaarey Zedek, another organization or privately. This group opportunity will enhance your experience, provide added skills, and help you be more prepared for the ceremony.

So, what will your child learn? Jewish values, Torah and Haftarah Trope training, traditional tunes and also the preparation of a group Chesed (social action) project. Children should already have the ability to read Hebrew to participate in this program. If your child can’t read Hebrew, please be in touch and we can connect you with a tutor (private for a fee).

We hope you can join us and encourage you to spread the word to friends! We look forward to meeting you.

Questions? Want to register? Want to try out a meeting? Call Chazzan Aníbal Mass at 204-452-3711 x464, email or drop by the class!

  Sunday School

Sunday School for Ages 5-12
With Dr. Ruth Ashrafi
Sundays, October 4 to May 29, 2015, 10:00 to 11:00 AM

Shaarey Zedek is proud to introduce its new Sunday school program: CHAI: Learning for Jewish Life. Solidly Jewish, educationally sound and beautifully and colourfully illustrated.

The Jewish sages teach us that “the world stands on three things: On Torah, on Avodah, and on G’milut Chasadim”. These pursuits – study, worship, and deeds of loving-kindness – provide the framework within which Jews build their relationships with God, with one another, and with the world. Accordingly, Torah, Avodah, and G’milut Chasadim serve as the core of the CHAI curriculum, providing students with the foundation for a lifetime of Jewish learning.

Our students will learn about these three strands and discover how they relate to their lives. They will learn the stories in the Torah, explore questions about God, and learn about implementing Jewish values. The students will also learn about the Jewish holidays. Because the curriculum spirals, students study something new about each holiday every year. Each year has its own focus for Torah, Avodah and G’milut Chasadim. Coupled with our Hebrew program, your child will receive a solid, all-round Jewish education.

The program comes with attractively illustrated workbooks and classroom materials. Parents can follow their child’s learning through regular updates.
