Unveiling
of a headstone in memory of the deceased generally take place a
year or more after death. If a death occurs in the
winter it takes time for the gravesite to settle and for grass to be
planted, so waiting well into the next year would be advised. A rabbi may
officiate at an Unveiling, but the ceremony is relatively simple, and a
member of the family could easily conduct the service.
> To book
an unveiling, contact our Life Cycle Director, Estelle Raber at 975 3484 or email at
eraber@shaareyzedek.mb.ca.
If you
prefer that a family member conduct the service, we will be pleased to
provide you with our booklet, “The Service of Unveiling”, which contains
complete instructions on conducting an Unveiling ceremony or
view a printer
friendly version on our site.
