Electronic Yahrzeit Memorial Board Memorialize your loved ones for future generations with a memorial screen on our Interactive Yahrzeit Board located just outside the Rabbi Louis Berkal Chapel. The names listed are those from the existing Yahrzeit plaques in the Rabbi Berkal Chapel. This user-friendly board displays the names of Yahrzeits which fall within each week. By touching the screen, you can access the features of the board, including searching for names and viewing their photos and biographies. During yontiff, the board will be disabled out of respect for the holiday. On Yizkor dates (Yom Kippur, Sh'mini Atzeret, the 8th day of Pesach and the 2nd day of Shavuot) names will scroll on the board alongside a symbolic candle. During that time, the Yahrzeit Plaque lights will be off and memorial candles will be lit in the Chapel and in the Sanctuary. Park Benches Dedicate a park bench in the name of your loved one, offering comfort, opportunities for contemplation, and further enhancement of the cemetery. These benches have a concrete base and wooden seats and backs. If you are interested in contributing to this project by purchasing a bench in memory of a loved one, you may do so by calling the number below. All benches will be identified with a permanent plaque.
Yizkor Book The Yizkor Book has become a tradition of Congregation Shaarey Zedek. This unique and meaningful book offers a distinctive, personal way for you to memorialize the lives of your loved ones, and is filled with readings and reflections on life and remembrance. It now includes a special Holocaust Memorial section with names of those who perished. This book is offered to the Congregation at the Yom Kippur Service by the participants and sponsors of the book. Yahrzeit Notification One month prior to the Yahrzeit date, reminder notifications are mailed out to members who have requested this service. If you would like more information, please call the number below.
