Hopefully most of you will have taken the opportunity to read the Program Guide that you received during the High Holidays, and more importantly will have registered for one or more of the terrific programs that we are offering this year. There are many other programs which are not reflected in the Guide and we count on our members finding out about the programs through the Shofar and our weekly program bulletins. Programming at Shaarey Zedek is an important membership service and we want to make sure that we offer a wide range of programs which will respond to the different wants and needs of our very diverse membership.

 

Programs don’t just happen. They require a lot of planning, coordination and preparation. We are fortunate to have an extremely capable and dedicated staff who make sure that everything runs smoothly and efficiently. However, our staff resources are limited and we really need the help of our members to make the programs a success. We need your enthusiastic participation in the programs that are offered. If we are not offering the programs you want, it is important for you to let us know. If you have an idea for a program that you think will be of interest to a significant group of our members, please let us know. We cannot promise that it will happen, or that it will happen immediately, but we will listen and try and make it happen. There is no shortage of great ideas, but we are limited by the availability of space and time.

Programs at Shaarey Zedek that come under the Programming Department include the special Shabbat dinners and other programs celebrating the holidays and festivals such as Sukkot, Chanukah, Tu B’Shevat, Simchat Torah and Purim. They also include the Beit HaMidrash courses and lectures, and the Luncheon with the Rabbi series. There are a lot of other programs happening as well. These include the very popular Adult Leisure programs, the programs for parents with young children and various programs for youth. Our programs are all designed to meet the Shaarey Zedek mission and provide a welcoming atmosphere in which we can experience spiritual growth and continuing education. I sincerely hope that you will find something of interest to participate in during the coming months. I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
