Adult Leisure Vignette By Mildred Devins, Adult Leisure Chairperson Published in the Shaarey Zedek Shofar in February 2009 Sheila Roitenberg passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2008. On a personal level, we were friends since University days. Sheila sang at our wedding. Her brave and dauntless spirit during her fight with cancer was met with respect and admiration by all who knew her. If only we could have wished her "well". We will remember her beautiful voice and all that she accomplished with it throughout her life. Sheila sang for our Adult Leisure
Group on several occasions. The Jewish Community that she served so well will miss her and remember her. Yasher Koach _____________________ The Adult Leisure Group was treated to a delightful musical program featuring Tzivi Meyers accompanied by Sara Hochman on November 24, 2008. Tzivi sang all the old favorite Jewish melodies that we don’t hear very often anymore. I sometimes wonder how much longer we can find an audience that will relate to these beautiful old Yiddish songs. Thanks to Ruth Billinkoff, we have pictures to commemorate many of our memorable programs. |
