I am very fond of Gita Weltman who attends our Adult Leisure Programs whenever possible. Gita lives a long distance away from the area where regular transportation is offered. A volunteer from Jewish Child and Family Service—Sheila Altman, a member of Shaarey Zedek— brings her to the synagogue.
Gita always has wonderful things to say about our Adult Leisure afternoons. This is a very important outing for her. When Gita told me that Sheila was to receive a volunteer honour from Jewish Child and Family Service for her volunteer driving, Sheila responded, “I don’t need recognition for driving Gita to the Adult Leisure Programs. Her enjoyment of these outings gives me just as much pleasure.” That’s the way all our volunteers feel about driving for Adult Leisure.
I would also like to take this opportunity to extend a hearty Todah Rabah to The Asper Foundation, Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood, Sandra and Barry Caplan, and Al Miller for their generous donations to the Adult Leisure Fund.
